Feministas : Queens of controversy

Unsolicited Tip for the day: If you want to make a buzzzzzz in SM, write or say something controversial. Make sure there's an existing deep divide over that topic. In no time random people will be abusing you and each other.
In pop media, feminists have often been portrayed as men hating women with dorky glasses and probably a stache too. Why not, since men were creating/writing these characters. They must have been like I'm going to make the pretty ones dumb (she has got to be dumb for she has to love dbags) and not so pretty ones as intelligent and men hating creatures. Also add some annoying characteristic like a high pitch voice to the intelligent one. #foreveralonehenceafeminist
The feminist brand has been diluted, some on purpose and some accidental, to the extent that there's a negative connotation to it. The league of uber urban feminists are partly responsible for it with their frivolous issues. Free the nipples, glitter unshaved pits, sexual empowerment not excluding promiscuity, are few of the infamous ones. While I may shake my head in disbelief, or even laugh at some of them, I am immensely happy that there are a few women on this planet who were not killed in the womb, have not faced any sort of violence domestic or otherwise, probably had access to decent education & job opportunities. Their only problem in life is that they feel pressured to shave their armpits or sleep with only one partner or wear a bra outdoors. You go girl! These women don't want to be equal to men, but they want to be men.
Honey men are dicks because they have one, what will be your excuse?

A Workshop Named Expressive Writing

A week ago, a friend asked me if I wanted to attend a workshop on writing and I agreed. Yeap, I am that adventurous; no details required, just sign me up! The way I look at it is, at least I get to meet some new people. Win win for me as I also get to wear some nice clothes (something apart from my usual all day bedtime clothing). Soon details started trickling in. The 1st shocker was it's not creative writing! What the fish, that's the only type I have heard of. But then the name expressive writing sounded so promising and intense. Isn't most of what we write an expression of us in that moment, even if it's in the form of OMGs or the dancing ladies. Normally I would have googled the hell out of this, but not this week. I'm happy that I didn't. Sometimes it's good to go in all blind. Without expectations it's easier not to be disappointed. After all the workshop was on a Saturday afternoon for 6hours! I would be lying if I said the 6 hours flew by ...

The Unholy Trinity

Another day, another shooting in US. This time it wasn't a crazy white man. This time it was a second generation immigrant from Afghanistan. He also happened to have pledged allegiance to ISIS right before the attack. Politically correct people are calling him self radicalised. Sounds similar to spontaneous combustion. It is believed he attacked the club because it was a LGBT club.  Religious fanatics term homosexuality as unnatural. The only thing unnatural about the lives of the people who died in that club, was not their sexual orientation, but that their parents will have to bury/cremate them. No parent should have to face that. A mad man, religion and gun - The UnHoly Trinity.   Was it the man that killed these people, or the religion that made him hate this community or the easily obtainable gun that ripped through the living in a flash. A Mad Man & Religion Who can say if the religion fed the madness or the mad man found the crazy in the religion. One thi...

WARNING - Full disclosures

Pick up any packaged good, chances are there's a warning label printed on it. Some might warn you not to wash another fellow human in the washing machine, while some might warn you not to pull that plastic wrap over your head. Warnings are all around us. There's a warning message played right before a movie is screened. We have debates over if cigarette makers warn their users sufficiently. We want our food to be labelled for any GMOs. Heck we are even warned about wet floors. Inspite of our love for disclaimers and warnings, we have none for the heavily photoshopped images we are subjected to in our daily lives. I'm not going to rant about how women are subjected to unrealistic beauty standards. Looks like men are also catching up on this fad. I don't mind the mindless photoshopping.  I do love pretty pictures just as much as I love disney princesses. What I would really want is for them to release the untouched image as a testament to their talent. As readers...
