The Tyranny of the Ordinary

One upon a time, not long long ago, being average was not a crime. In fact, it was encouraged. Once in a blue moon you would be exposed to how exceptionally well X's son/daughter was doing. It was just about OK to get decent grades, do decently well in college, get a comfortable job, get married and the inevitable have kids. Such a blissful world, the only world that you could see was till how far you could actually see. Your gaze might have ordinarily stopped at the toys your neighbour had and that probably was the only source of your envy.
It's 2016, and now you can see as far/long as you are willing to search the internet. Youtube is crowded with these kids(?I guess I can call them that) running successful youtube channels. Some of them well they are just talking/logging their mundane life! The internet is bubbling with people doing exceptional, unorthodox things.
They don't make movies about the girl next door, unless she also happens to have over a million followers on social media. This is not a good time to be alive, if you don't have a "passion" that you can follow. We are living in a world of jargons.  #YOLO

A Workshop Named Expressive Writing

A week ago, a friend asked me if I wanted to attend a workshop on writing and I agreed. Yeap, I am that adventurous; no details required, just sign me up! The way I look at it is, at least I get to meet some new people. Win win for me as I also get to wear some nice clothes (something apart from my usual all day bedtime clothing). Soon details started trickling in. The 1st shocker was it's not creative writing! What the fish, that's the only type I have heard of. But then the name expressive writing sounded so promising and intense. Isn't most of what we write an expression of us in that moment, even if it's in the form of OMGs or the dancing ladies. Normally I would have googled the hell out of this, but not this week. I'm happy that I didn't. Sometimes it's good to go in all blind. Without expectations it's easier not to be disappointed. After all the workshop was on a Saturday afternoon for 6hours! I would be lying if I said the 6 hours flew by ...

A Picture

A picture can be a photo on your desk, a painting on your wall or maybe a movie to watch with friends. It can also be an image or an impression drawn with inks in our head. A picture can evoke emotions or stir memories, remind you of ones you longer know. It can be a time capsule of an era bygone or just a few moments ago. A picture my dear friends speaks a thousand words and still some more. This otherwise nondescript wall seems to convey the world of opposites as we know them - the dilapidated and the new! Internet of all things FU *P

Needless to say we all love the internet. Smartphones, super fast download speeds, they have all made us & internet inseparable lovers. We need to see each other as soon as we open our eyes, glancing wantingly throughout the day at work, can't wait to get our hands on it once home. Internet has freed us in ways we cannot even count or comprehend. It gives anonymity to those who want it and fame to those who can get it. Its miracles are abundant. Naturally, such a wonderful  tool  platform deserves to be free & open for all. There's plenty been written about Net Neutrality, I find myself standing on the other side of the line. Obviously I wouldn't want my ISPs to censor/throttle any websites, but on the other hand I think it would be nice if I could pick & pay a few extra bucks for Netflix. Don't we all pay for specific TV channels already? HBO should be made free I say. The obvious downfall could be I, in all likelihood, would be throttling my po...
